Tenth Judicial Circuit Announces New Director of Probation and Court Services for Peoria County

Peoria – The Tenth Judicial Circuit is pleased to announce that Mark Bronke has accepted the position of Director of Probation and Court Services for Peoria County and will assume his duties on January 13, 2020. As Director of Probation and Court Services, Mr. Bronke will report to the Court Administrator and Chief Judge and will oversee the divisions of adult probation, juvenile probation, and juvenile detention.

Mr. Bronke is currently serving as the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Peoria County Probation and Court Services. There, he has been responsible for training and supervision of probation officers, development and implementation of specialized programs, and participated in the formulation of the department’s annual budget, operations plan, and collective bargaining negotiations and contract administration.

Under his leadership, Peoria County has exceeded all required standards promulgated by the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts (AOIC). Within the last two (2) years, the AOIC has updated their probation contact standards and introduced a new risk assessment tool. Peoria County was one of the first probation departments to be approved by AOIC to incorporate those new contact standards into policy. Mr. Bronke was selected by AOIC to serve as a state-wide trainer on the new Juvenile Risk Assessment tool. This enabled Peoria county to be one of the first recognized probation departments in the State to have all staff utilizing the new Juvenile Risk Assessment tool as well as providing probation supervision in accordance to new standards.

Prior to serving as the Chief of Juvenile Probation, Mr. Bronke served as the Superintendent of the Juvenile Detention Center for Peoria County from 1998 to 2008. During this time, he oversaw the departmental expansion from an 18 bed facility to the current 63 bed facility that operates today.

Mr. Bronke received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Sciences in 1987 from the Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. He currently sits on the Illinois Association of Juvenile Justice Board and is a member of the Wraparound Center Partnership.

The Tenth Judicial Circuit welcomes Mark Bronke as the new Director of Probation and Court Services. For more information on this appointment, please contact the Court Administrator at (309) 672-6066.
